Penwold Hills

The Penwolds are a spine of high hills along the southeastern coast of Penwith. The sources of the rivers Aera and Jarrow are found in these hills. While they would not be considered true mountains in Orem, the Penwold Hills comprise the highest ground in Penwith and contain Mount Rhone, the island’s highest point.

The hills are largely covered in mixed oak-pine forest. While the hills occasionally see snowfall, the climate of southern Penwith is warm enough that virtually all parts of the hills are habitable.

The hills are sparsely populated, mostly by farmers and timberers. The largest single settlement in the mountains was Tintern, the holy city on Mount Rhone that was razed during the Scourge of Penwith.
